  • Francesco Piccioli and Jordi Alastruey participated in the 9th World Congress of Biomechanics (WCB) in Taipei, Taiwan, in July 2022. Francesco gave the oral presentations "On the relative role of cardiac and vascular properties in raising pulse pressure," and Jordi was an invited speaker to the session Clinical Application for Biomechanics in Cardiopulmonary System. He gave the talk titled The relevant role of in silico pulse wave databases in machine learning-based pulse wave analysis. A recording of this seminar is available here. He also co-organised and moderated sessions at the congress.

Weiwei and Francesco gave oral presentations titled, respectively, "Pulse wave velocity estimation from the radial pressure wave using recurrent neural networks" and "On the assessment of cardiac properties from pulse waves - A computational study". Jordi co-organised a mini-symposium on cardiac function and coronary flow.

  • Jordi Alastruey gave 4 hours of lectures on Modelling Arterial Blood Flow in the Cardiovascular System at Northeastern University, China, in April 2022, as part of the "boundless classroom" programme. Jordi was invited again as an international expert on the topic, after his initial classes in December 2020.

He is co-responsible for approving nominations of PGR degree (MPhil, PhD, MD(Res)) examiners to ensure nominations are fair and consistent with guidelines and regulations.
