  • The group participated in the ARTERY24 conference in October 2024. Sara Vardanega gave an oral presentations on image-based continuous analysis of the photoplethysmography signal for assessing vascular age. Jordi Alastruey was an invted speaker at the roundtable titled Vascular ageing translation to practice: Mind the Gaps and Follow the Trends!

  • The group participated in the 8th International Conference on Computational and Mathematical Biomedical Engineering in Arlington, Virginia, USA, in June 2024. Fatma Alimahomed, Sara Vardanega, and David Wilson gave presentations on pulse wave-based assessments of foetal growth restriction, vascular ageing, and aortic valve stenosis, respectively. Jingyuan Hong presented on estimating blood pressure changes from photoplethymography. Jordi Alastruey co-organised two mini-symposa on digital twins in biomedical engineering and virtual subjects for cardiovascular research.

  • Jordi Alastruey contributed to the final VascAgeNet workshop and WG meeting in Riga, Latvia, in March 2024, where achievements of the Physiological and Technical Background WG2, led by Jordi, were showcased.   • The group is a member of the Horizon VITAL project, a consortium of academic, clinical, and industrial partners working to develop virtual patient models for personalised treatment for heart-related conditions, to be tested with over 200 patients in France and the UK. The project began in January 2024 and will fund two HaeMod PGRAs.
